Another fun, sun-filled nipper season is just around the corner and Riversdale Beach Surf Living Saving Club is calling for applications by qualified lifeguards for the following roles:
Nipper Coaches (9 paid positions available)
Reporting to the Nipper Coordinator with direct reporting to the Nipper Coach Group Leaders, the successful candidates will have the following:
- Well Organised
- Excellent communication skills
- A passion for surf life saving and a demonstrated commitment to the club
- Competence in the surf
- 1 years volunteer experience as a nipper coach
- 2 Years life guard experience
Nipper Coach Group Leaders (3 paid positions available)
Reporting to the Nipper Co Ordinator with direct reporting to the Head Nipper Coach, the successful candidates will have the following:
- All the above criteria of a Nipper Coach plus
- Demonstrated ability to manage people
Head Nipper Coach (1 paid position available)
Reporting to the Nipper Coordinator, the successful candidate will have the following:
- All the above criteria of a Nipper Coach plus
- Demonstrated ability to manage people and
- Proven leadership skills
Volunteer Nipper Coaches – Expressions of Interest (unpaid positions)
Volunteers will be rostered to assist the program on an as required basis

Note: Nipper coaches will be paid an increased hourly rate if the successful applicant holds their patrol captain and IRB driver’s qualifications.
Applicants for the paid positions are expected to be available to work every day of the programme.
As a condition of employment all nipper coaches must complete their annual lifeguard refresher prior to the commencement of the program.

Successful applicants are also required to attend an orientation day in mid December, attend morning training sessions with life guards and complete 30 Volunteer Life Guard hours throughout the season.
Discretional Leave
Requests may be considered once roles are offered to successful applicants and will only be granted based on:
- Resourcing required to run the Nipper programme
- Previous commitment
- Surf Life saving qualifications
- Preference will be given to those who have previously been employed in the programme and have not been granted discretional leave.
